Product synthesis and process
Put the plant cotton fibers into a reaction vessel, sprinkle them with caustic soda solution under stirring conditions, knead for 1 hour, add sodium chloroacetate, knead for reaction, then transfer the above products to a maturation tank and let them age for 12-24 hours. After the coarse powder of the matured product is sent to a belt dryer for drying, crushing, mixing, and packaging, it is the carboxymethyl cellulose product.
Product performance and quality indicators
CMC is an anionic polyelectrolyte prepared by the reaction of sodium chloroacetate and alkaline cellulose, abbreviated as CMC. Its degree of substitution ranges from 0.4 to 1.2. Depending on its purity, it appears as a white or grayish white powder, non-toxic, insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone, soluble in water, and a transparent and viscous colloid in aqueous solution. It has good salt resistance and follows the standard SY/T5093-92. The main quality indicators of the product are as follows:

Purpose
In drilling fluid, it can be used as a drilling fluid viscosity enhancer, filter reducer, and emulsifier, with strong salt resistance, suitable for various types of water-based drilling fluid systems, and its dosage is generally 1.0% -2.0%.
